The online Report Packaging Data portal is now live for large producers to complete enrolment and nominate their compliance scheme by 1 October.
All organisations impacted by packaging EPR must enrol their organisation with the regulator and nominate the compliance scheme that will be submitting data on their behalf, if they are using one.
Organisations classed as large under packaging EPR must do this before 1 October 2023, whilst small organisations must do so at a later date, to be confirmed.
The enrolment process requires basic information including company trading name, address and Companies House number, if available. After enrolling their organisation, producers must also nominate their compliance scheme to enable it to submit data on their behalf.
It should be noted that nominating a compliance scheme on the gov.uk portal is not a method for joining a scheme, it simply informs the regulator which registered compliance scheme you have already chosen to submit data on your behalf.
The enrolment process will also register the approved person at the producer organisation. The approved person will be legally responsible for submitting information by the required deadlines to their compliance scheme or regulator and for verifying that it is as accurate as reasonably possible.
This must be either a director or company secretary, a company partner, a sole trader or an additional role to be added (for example, control or management). It should be noted that the regulator will check the role against records held by Companies House and the producer enrolment will be rejected if the person cannot be approved.
A critical required action
It is critical that producers complete their enrolment and nomination of compliance scheme as soon as possible before the required deadline. It must be completed by the approved person at the producer organisation - it cannot be completed on their behalf by their compliance scheme.
Large producers can enrol their organisation now by visiting the Report Packaging Data portal on gov.uk.
