Global growth and increased compliance
Founded in 1825, Clarks is a globally recognised UK footwear brand selling over 50 million pairs of shoes each year. As international sales expanded across Europe and the US, so did the scale and complexity of its compliance obligations.
What began as a small number of European packaging requirements quickly grew into a multi‑country, multi‑regulation landscape covering packaging, WEEE, batteries, textiles and Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT). Managing data submissions, tracking regulatory change and staying compliant across jurisdictions became increasingly resource‑intensive and high-risk to handle internally.
Clarks needed a way to manage global compliance at scale - accurately and reliably - without diverting internal teams from core business priorities. They turned to Ecosurety.

Managing compliance at a global scale
Our partnership with Clarks began in 2018 with a single UK requirement and quickly evolved as their compliance footprint grew.
By 2019, we were managing packaging and WEEE obligations across four European countries. By 2024, this had expanded to 11 countries, supporting both Clarks International and Clarks Americas Inc.
Due to the frequency and complexity of compliance obligations, Clarks supply a near-constant flow of raw data to Ecosurety, which we process, validate, calculate and convert into compliance-ready submissions.

As EPR regulation expands globally, we ensure Clarks is always prepared for compliance and never reactive.
We now manage over 145 individual submissions each year for Clarks, across monthly, quarterly, bi‑annual and annual reporting cycles in 20 countries, including five US states.
