Ecosurety sold its UK WEEE and Batteries Compliance Schemes on 1 November to Reconomy Group, with Valpak operating the schemes for 2024 and beyond.
Divesting from WEEE and Batteries compliance activities will enable Ecosurety to fully focus on growing its Packaging Compliance Scheme and associated data services.
Will Ghali, CEO of Ecosurety, said: “Ecosurety is on a mission to accelerate change towards an environmentally sustainable world. By divesting from less strategic areas, we will be able to invest further in developing our data services and infrastructure associated with Packaging EPR. We are excited to expand our support to our growing packaging producer member base and to focus on packaging sustainability where we can make the biggest impact.”
Ecosurety will continue to operate the WEEE and Batteries schemes as usual until the 2023 compliance year is closed off, to ensure all its members are compliant.
The team will work closely with Valpak during a transition period until they fully manage its members’ WEEE and batteries compliance for the 2024 compliance year and beyond.
Ecosurety would like to thank all its WEEE and Batteries members for their continued support over the years.
It has been a pleasure to work with them and the industry stakeholders on reducing the environmental impact of waste electricals and batteries in the UK.
