Scaling the reuse revolution: Highlights from the Global Reuse Summit

It’s always fantastic when you see a project you’ve been working on come to fruition, and really phenomenal when you see it become a resounding success!

That’s exactly how we at Ecosurety and our partners at City to Sea felt on 12 March, as we walked into We The Curious in Bristol to participate in the Global Reuse Summit

As the headline sponsor, we are proud to have supported this event and champion the incredible work City to Sea does in driving the reuse revolution. What better way to do this than by assembling a programme of expert speakers and welcoming 180 committed attendees from across the globe, all eager to explore how to scale reuse effectively?

Uniting for a reuse-driven future

Reuse Summit 01

The day began with an inspiring keynote speech from Margaret Heffernan, who emphasised the importance of innovation and bold action in making reuse mainstream. She highlighted that great ideas can come from anywhere and that creativity and passion are essential to driving a sustainable future. When asked who inspires her, she immediately pointed to artists — reinforcing the role of creativity in shaping change.

The rest of the day delivered this vital creativity and passion in abundance, with experts in policy, materiality, commercial viability, and behaviour change all having their voices heard and, at times, challenged by their fellow panelists and the audience. The event was a powerful demonstration of collective expertise and ambition.

We were particularly delighted that the final words of the day came from our CEO, Will Ghali, who called for immediate action and collaboration across all packaging industries. He also announced Ecosurety’s exciting work on a city-wide reusable packaging system which we are developing in partnership with the Bristol community.

‘Coming together to disrupt the status quo’

Reuse Summit 02

Will Ghali commented:

We were delighted to team up with City to Sea for the second Global Reuse Summit which showed the appetite is clearly there from stakeholders to make reuse a success. Alongside the strong support from industry players, we have the technology to back it up. What we need now is coordinated action from policymakers, businesses and consumers to create the scale needed for these systems to thrive.

Katie Roselaar, Summit attendee and Packaging Consultant at The PackHub, commented:

The Global Reuse Summit seamlessly connected key themes— infrastructure, policy, market potential, and consumer engagement— to provide a holistic view of reuse. The key takeaway was clear: reducing reliance on single-use materials and cutting carbon emissions through scalable reuse models is essential for a more sustainable future. Achieving this, however, requires deep collaboration across industries.

Reuse Summit - Jane

Jane Martin, CEO of City to Sea, said:

The summit demonstrates that businesses are committed individually, and in collaboration with others, to bring reuse a step closer. In every single discussion the case was made for policy makers to support industry with clear and timely legislation supporting reuse. It was incredibly inspiring to see the brightest minds in our industry – and from all around the world - coming together to disrupt the status quo and to accelerate the transition to the new reuse economy.
